Remembering 9/11
Today we remember 9/11.
Those who lost their lives. Those who buried loved ones. Those who never found anything to bury.
A country sees many dark days. For me, this was the darkest.
It was so pointless.
No one had anything to gain. No one was freed; the opposite happened. No one was saved; people were killed, maimed, and imprisoned in retaliation. No country benefitted; many suffered horribly.
We think about making “statements”. Doing “something big”.
Why don’t we think about what happens next?
What is the benefits to ourselves, our country, the world at large, or even our own people?
Who is going to get hurt? How badly and for how long?
Human beings have proved we can do anything.
It is time for us to learn to pick and choose when we choose to act.
The world is an amazing place. As the dominant species on the planet, the best things that happen should not be in spite of us.
We should be caretakers, not destroyers.
We should aspire to be life bringers rather than life takers.
Today, we remember 9/11.
